that they have studied extensively in the classroom. A s usual, w e visited the W hite House, and this year our trip included a chance to meet with our Congressman, Michael Ferguson who took time from his busy schedule to meet with our students and expbin his duties
and responsibilities as a member of Congress. His talk was followed by a special tour of the Capitol led by interns from the Congressman's office. After leaving the Capitol, we crossed the street and visited the Supreme Court to see the Courtroom end to hear an interesting lecture.
The trip also included many cross-curricular experiences. An evening’s play, Shea- M adness presenfed at the Kennedy Center was an enjoyable, light-hearted experience. While our visit to the Holocaust Museum brought the eighth graders' classroom study of Eli Weisel's famous memoir, Night, into stark reality. The Air and Space Museum's exhibit, "How Things Fly” provided many hands-on activities which albwed the eighth graders to understand flight in its many forms. The Spy Museum also allowed students to get "involved" withtheexhibits,testingtheirpotentialasundercoveragents.A stopattheNationalGallery, gave the students a chance to view and attempt to re-create the whimsical drawings of the modern American artist Ed Ruscha. O ur visit to the Museum of Natural History extended the science classes study of rocks and minerals into the experiences of the trip.
W e also visited most of the our Capital's great memorials, and, as a final activity, four of our students representing the W ardlaw-Hartridge School community, lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. W e returned to Edison tired but satisfied!
