Running, driving, flicking, and scooping, the varsity field hockey team surged forward, led by Tri- Captains Susan Stout, Bonnie Sermons, and Roxane Brown, to become the 1978 Independent School Champions. “The team worked hard for what they accom plished and for the Championship,” commented Coach Arlene Jachim. The field hockey team closed its season with a record of 8-2-5, making it the only fall varsity
team in the school to hold a winning record. Kara Kenny, goalie, pro vided a strong defense, while both Roxane Brown and Bonnie Sermons
were chosen Most Valuable Players. Bonnie and Roxane, together with Eloise Cordasco, were also named for the All Star Team. Sue Stout, who received the Coach’s Award, commented, “Everyone played very well and put in a lot of effort to make this season a success.”
