VARSITY TENNIS
The 1965 varsity tennis team looked forward to what promised to be its best season in school history. Although it faced tough competition, the team was relying upon ex perience and depth to put it over the top.
Bill Dubin, who had moved into number-one spot and compiled a noteworthy record the previous season, occu pied the post of first-singles player. Pete Pomeroy, a four- year varsity man, played number-two singles; and sopho more Rich Perlmutter held the number-three spot.
At the doubles position, veteran Dave White returned to a post on the first pair. Other doubles assignments were wide open. Prominent in these positions were veterans Ted Snowdon and Bob Whitman and J. V. graduate Terry Walz. Rich Vivian and senior Ron Stanley also worked in these places, and newcomers Fred Anthony and Steve Paskow helped furnish the team with depth.
Bad weather early in the season was a handicap to opening practice, but inclement weather was gone with the wins.
