The Hockey Game with Kent Place
After the game with Kent Place had been postponed tAvice on account of the disagreeable weather, it was with great joy that on the morning of the appointed day we beheld a cloutlless sky. The perverse weather
fooled us, however, for about noon a fine driz/de set in. However, be­ cause everyone realized the full importance of the game, the rain made no headway whatsoever in dampening our spirits or lessening our enthusiasm.
In the pre\’ious year we hacl been defeated by Kent Place on their field, and the October before that we had been the victors on our own ground. Phis game was \'itally important as it was to be the decisive
battle.
When the Kent Place team ran on the held, both schools clapped
and cheered vociferously, and the Hartridge team, arriving on the scene
in a very business-like manner, was greeted by the same outburst. I hen the players took their places, the whistle blew, and the game began. No score was made by either side in the hrst quarter, but in the second Babbie
Mclntire made the hrst goal of the game for Hartridge. Spurred on by this, Kent Place retaliated with another goal, and just before the whistle blew at the end of the hrst half, Connie \’an Duyn scored again for Hart­
ridge, thus putting us in the lead. Between the halves there was a great deal of cheering and singing from both sides, showing approval of the cool
and quick playing.
In the hrst quarter of the second half Kent Place brought the game
to a climax by tying the score. 'Phe defence of both teams was so effective
in the last cmarter that no goals were made, and the game ended a tic
with the score of two to two.
.All of the Kent Place guests and the Hartridge team with the cheer
leaders were then invited to the Main House, where, over cups of choco­ late, they discussed the likelihood of a game next year which they hoped
would reall\} determine the winner of this friendly conflict.
