record. Despite the losing record, the Lady Rams did "very well within the Prep B
ronterence while giving many of the teams they lost to a close game," according to Coach Allen Everhart. d ' o '
Thev fought some tough battles at the WHAC (Wardlaw-Hartridge Athletic Cen- ter). This years team won the annual W-H tournament. The team, which was cap tained by senior point guard Tara Pate and senior forward Priya Sehgal, beat Morris town- ^ a r d (31-28) with a last minute comeback to advance them into the final round. The team then defeated Gill St. Bernard (34-27) to win the W-H Tourney ti- tie, a feat that has not been accomplished in over four years. Two players, Pate and
junior small-forward Naya Lyons, made it to the All-Tournament Team. Pate was also awarded the title of tournament MVP.
The team, according to assistant manager Umar Latif was a "powerhouse," ending the season with a 6-2 record in the conference. The only losses were to PDS and Rut gers Prep. "Perhaps the best and most emotional game was a 40-33 win agaiirst Saddle River Day School; there were fights on the court and an onslaught of clutch scor ing," claims head manager Kunal Grover.
Pate has put her name in the W-H record books with the all-time leading assist to tal at 180, as well as becoming the third leading female scorer in history with 503 points, while averaging 10,8 points per game this year. "I didiTt even know 1 was close to becoming: tnhe third all-time leader (scoring) until Mr. Everhart came up to me after a game telling me 1 had already done it (became third all-time)," explains Pate. Pale led the team in scoring this year while sophomore Michelle Parker led the team in rebounding.
"It's going to be tough to replace Tara, but we have a strong nucleus in juniors Naya Lyons, Roselyn Brown, Paige Thompson, while freshmen Aliya Latif and Nicole Everhart received valuable playing time as varsity players," says Coach Ever hart,
