be one of the hottest of the spring. However, regardless of the tempera
ture, every one arrived at the ring in her newest and coolest summer clothes, emphasizing the fact that this was one of the great occasions in
the year. Interested friends and families came to witness some exeellent horsemanship in the ring, which was kindly lent us by Mrs. Yerkes.
The noise and confusion was hushed as Class I, for children under twelve, entered. All eyes were attracted to a frisky, yet obedient, pony, and to Catherine Mellick, its competent rider. Great was the delight of the onlookers when the tiny pony and its rider left with the first prize. Classes II and III were won by Margaret Morse and Lucie DuBois re spectively. After some argument, the championship cup, donated by the Cross Country Riding Club, was given to Margaret Morse. In the last
class, the cup for the best horse, given by the Park Riding Club, was
