The Hockey Games
This year marked an important step in hockey, as the usual schedule of one outside game was extended to two. Fhe Hrst game was with Miss
Beard’s School.
Upon the arrival of the visitors in a bus, the two schools gathered on each side of the field awaiting their respective teams with cheers and songs. d'he Beard team, green-clad like our own, played a fast game which was
both interesting and exciting to watch. Our team distinguished itself by making four goals, while our opponents obtained only a single score.
At the end of the game the two teams and their supporters went to the Main H OLise, where the substitutes played their part in the day’s success by serving hot chocolate and buns.
The second game was the annual one with Kent Place, played at Kent PI ace. This year the game was doubly important, because the winnei
would be the champion of a series of matches of se\xral years standing.
For once the weather was fa\ orable. Both teams were out to win. At first Kent Place took the lead, pressing the defense hard, and ending with a
rush that caused the first goal of the conflict. Our team retaliatetl sharply. and brought the score even, d'he advantage see-sawed from side to side. until the final whistle blew, leaving Kent Place victorious with a score of
3-2.
