2 LOCAL RENOVATIONS on
the Ex Governor’s
house have been
COMPLETED
LAST week the renovation process of the old Governor’s house was completed.
Mr. Omar tromp director of Felipe Construction and Mrs. Yvonne Webb-Kock
director of Monumentenbureau (Monument office) both signed to hand over the
completed first and second phase of the project.
The renovation process consisted of 3 phases.
The first phase involved renovating the outside of the building. The monuments
office was in charge of designing the new exterior. Mrs. Daphne Every the director
of the Monuments office was also the designer of the garden. The first phase was
funded by the Aruban Government. Cabinet Eman II set aside 1.100.000 florins
on their yearly budget for this project. The project is an initiative of Prime Minister
Mike Eman and Minister of Infrastructure Benny Sevinger as part of the efforts to
make our downtown area more attractive.
The second phase is funded by the Aruban Governor’s Cabinet and involves the
inside of the building including necessary installations. Both the second and the
third phase are financed by the Aruban Governor’s Cabinet. To conclude the third
phase the furniture needs to arrive.
With the support of the Minister of Culture Mr. Otmar Oduber, the Monuments
Office was able to design and lead all three phases of this prestigious project.
The goal is for the building to be available to the Aruban Governor and the Council
of Ministers to use for diplomatic visitors and receptions as soon as the entire
project is completed.
