Defeated in the first
round of the Taekwondo
competition

In The 2015 Toronto Pan American Games

THE Taekwondo Competition in the Pan American Games started in the
Mississaugua Sports Centre in Toronto, Canada where two Aruban athletes
competed. The athletes were Monica Pimentel and John Jairo Maduro.
The first athlete to compete was Monica Pimentel. She faced off against the strong
Puerto-Rican athlete Victoria Stambaugh in the 49kg category.

Monica Pimentel started the competition very cautious whereas Stambaugh was
looking to gain points fast by kicking her in the head. She achieved her goal
and earned 6 points by kicking Monica twice in the head, but Monica Pimentel
responded by kicking her back in the head and earning 3 points.

In the following rounds of the competition the Puerto-Rican athlete earned more
points by kicking Monica a few more times. The game ended with a score of 13-
6, 13 for Puerto Rico and 6 for Aruba. Sadly the Pan American Games were short
for Monica Pimentel since she has been eliminated from the competition.
