Group discussion – Find a partner, discuss the following questions and share with the
class.
1. With your partner, browse the internet and find some pictures indicating patient with specific symptoms
of specific disease.
2. After finding the pictures, discuss with your partner regarding the detailed description in the picture:
a. How does the patient look like?
b. What kinds of symptom characteristics does the patient experience?
c. How long might the disease prevail?
d. What is the medical treatment that the patient should have?
Read the following narration about patient with septic shock and discuss the following
questions.
“EMS is dispatched to a local residence namely Susan Carlton for a 20-
year-old female with foot pain. Medics find the patient sitting in a
recliner with her left foot supported by a pillow.”
Susan spent the weekend at the beach and cut her foot on a piece
of glass while walking in the ocean. On the next day, her foot has
become increasingly painful, and this morning she developed a fever that
hasn’t responded to acetaminophen. She is conscious and alert but weak.
