Napoleon was born in Corsica in
1769 to a wealthy minority elite
family of Italian descent. He had
several siblings, two of which died
during infancy. He had an older
brother Joseph and had 6 younger
siblings. He was born into a Catholic
family, and was born with the name
Napoleone Buonaparte, but later
changed his named into Napoleon
Bonaparte, which sounded more
French, when he was 27 while
