Pottery is a craft developed in the Neolithic age. How it was discovered is still
unclear. Some say that perhaps it was developed when someone noticed that a

basket coated in clay could hold liquid. When baked at a high temperature, the
clay hardened and turned into pottery.

The development of pottery helped address many needs of people in the
Neolithic age. For one, it provided containers for hauling water and storing oil.

Pots were also used for cooking and storing grain. Dried food and seeds were
preserved in pottery containers to protect them from moisture , insects, chicken,

             and mice.
The earliest pottery products were made entirely by hand. The potter’s wheel,

which helped make the shaping of pottery in various forms easier and faster, was
only invented in the late Neolithic age. Hence, some differences may be observed

between the pottery created in the early Neolithic age and those from the latter
             part of said period.
