In 1885, his father had died, and

his wife had gave birth to a child

that would also die within a few

days. These two deaths devastated

Gandhi. In 1887, Gandhi graduated

from high school in Ahmedabad.

Then, he went on to attend the

Samaldas college, which was the only

institution during the time that gave

higher education over high school.

However, the family could not afford

this education and he rolled out of

college soon and returned to his

family in Porbandar.
