Since the Mobius strip is homeomorphic

to the real projected plane, it has

enjoyed a variety of real world

applications.

This central property allows the Mobius

strip to enjoy a very long life span. The

long life span results because the belt’s

entire surface area is exposed to

proportionate amounts of wear and tear.

The non-orientable surface which has

only one path and whose directix is

eventually reversed increases durability

because both sides of the belt are

equally exposed to pressure.

Conveyor belts and certain motor vehicle

belts are modelled after the Mobius strip.
