The Himalayan mountain ranges
comprise nine of the highest
mountain peaks in the world, some
of them towering over 29,000 feet.
About 50 million years ago, these
impressive mountain ranges were
formed through the collision of the
Eurasian and Indian plates.
The Himalayas continue to grow at
a rate of about five millimetres per
year.
