The Himalayas formed when the
Indian and Asian continents caused
the Tibetan plateau to thrust
upwards.
These plates continue to squeeze
together, causing the continued
growth of Himalayan ranges.
High up on the mountain peaks,
water-laid sedimentary rocks can be
found as indisputable proof that the
Himalayas were once at sea level.
However, some people argue
erroneously that their continued
growth is a result of the snowfall.
