school system’s devotion to

rules and regulations.

Violence threatens the order of

things, and the school’s rational

response is to raise a

judgmental eyebrow that shuns

rather than seeks to understand

violence.

As a result, one of the major

shortcomings of any school

system’s approach to violence is

the strict measures it

implements against violence.
