The fish twisted and strained in fury,

but it could not match the strength

of Maui’s desire.

With a final burst of energy he

hauled on the line one last time and

the giant creature burst forth onto

the surface. It lay there, exhausted

and dying.

Maui surveyed his catch, the beast

was incredibly large, with its tail

stretching away to the north, while

its head lay far down to the south.
