But the mighty beast knew the

ocean was its home, so it began to

struggle and fight.

Maui was forced to brace himself as

the water around him began to

bubble and churn.

Planting his feet squarely inside the

canoe, Maui heaved on the line,

pulling it in, inch by inch.

His brothers were terrified and

made no attempt to help him as

they held onto the shaking craft.
