England (The United Kingdom) was once

ruled by a man named Uther Pendragon,

a brave and wise king.

But the king was very sad, having no wife

or child of his own. He was in love with a

woman named Igraine.

But she was already married to another

man, the Duke of Tintagel. Desperate for

love, king Uther turned to Merlin, a

wizard, for help.

Merlin agreed to help King Uther, but

only on one condition: any child that was

born to King Uther and Igraine would be

turned over to him, Merlin, for care. The

King agreed.
