Meanwhile, the lower plate buckles
under the tremendous pressure of
the top plate to form a deep ocean
trench. The area where the two
plates overlap is called a subduction
zone. The Himalayas are a great
work of art created by nature. Their
size and grandeur continue to
dazzle people. In the years to come,
the geological movements caused
by the India-Asia convergence will
allow these mountain peaks to
realize new and more impressive
heights.
