When the Great Depression began in
1929 it seemed to evade people.
Initially, the financial crisis was viewed
as a temporary slump that would
resolve itself – nobody imagined the
detrimental impact it would have.
The Great Depression lasted a decade,
and worldwide it devastated the
industrialized countries.
It occurred between the Roaring
Twenties and the Second World War,
from 1929 until 1939, and was the
direct result of human errors in
economic policy.
