Polar twins result from one egg
that splits and each respective
egg is then fertilised by a
unique sperm.
On the other hand,
sezquizygotic twins result when
two distinct sperm fertilise a
single egg and, then, the egg
splits.
In both of these instances, the
semi-identical twins possess the
exact same maternal genes, but
inherit different paternal genes.
