Capture
The next step is to capture data in all the processes that should be able to be captured by transactional
processing systems (TPS). Care should be taken to recognize data that might be in manual processes or
external systems or locations external to TPS. Manual processes might involve manually entering data
into an electronic spreadsheet or database offline. External data might exist in internal systems other
than TPS, such as customer relationship management or supply chain management systems. External
data might also exist external to the entity.
The captured data would then need to be aggregated into a data warehouse or similar system.
