Then on 25 August 1909, James George married Ada Oliver in Wanganui, at
the home of Ada’s sister and brother-in-law.
At the round of farewells, Church
functions etc which had taken place
in mid 1909, against the continuing
background of rumours that the
Kenyon family was to leave for the
Waikato, there had been no mention in
the Taranaki newspapers of
Ada Oliver.
Soon after they were married,
James George and Ada left
South Taranaki for good.
But they did not go to the Waikato.
From 198 acres of prime land in South
Taranaki, James George took his family,
and his new wife Ada, to the steep and rugged country of the Sandon Block, a remote
area near the Rangitikei River, not far from Hunterville,
