                                       A Heart-to-Heart Note from Chapter 200
A Mended Hearts Visitor brought you this HeartGuide, and if you had a sternotomy,
a therapeutic cough pillow. This visitor – and others you may have seen during your
hospital stay – are volunteers and former heart patients, and they want you to know
Mended Hearts wishes you a successful recovery.

Mended Hearts was founded in Boston in 1951, where four people came together to
give each other encouragement during their recovery from heart surgery. Today, a
Visitor from Chapter 200 visited you with that same spirit. The HeartGuide contains
information especially for you, your family, and your caregiver. Chapter 200 offers
support and encouragement throughout your recovery.

Our Chapter Support Group Meetings are held the first Saturday of each month at
11AM in the Heart and Vascular Institute at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. By providing
the Visitor with your address, you ensure that you will be notified with directions to our
meeting. And, if you provide your telephone number, one of our Visitors will call you
after discharge. Both the telephone call and attending the Support Group Meeting will
give you the opportunity to discuss your recovery process with other former heart
patients, including any concerns or questions you may have.

My telephone number is 703.266.7703, and my email address is
mskolan@hotmail.com should you wish to contact me. As a former patient and
thankful survivor, I believe your patience and positive attitude will be very beneficial
                 to your recovery.

                 Sincerely,

                 Michael S. Kolansky
