Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic,
the Y facility was closed from March 17 to June 12.
Through the Board of Trustees’ leadership, PPP funds, and
the generosity of community donors, the Y was able to
retain staff, provide essential child care, and address food
insecurity.
Staff personally made wellness checks with over 900
members, fully cleaned the facility, and conducted
annual maintenance.
The Y offered over 1,000 Zoom classes, limited
in-person classes, and created a video library.
The Y was proud to partner with LincolnHealth to offer the MaryLouise Tandy
Cowan fieldhouse as a vaccination site, the first Y in the country to do so.
With the opening of the Y, safety protocols were set in
place including sign-up for lap swimming, increased
sanitation stations, requirements for masks, and
contact tracing.
COVID-19 had a dramatic impact on membership, and
while the majority of members checked in 42,311 times
before March 2020, membership revenues decreased by
30%.
Due to increased demand from the pandemic, the Y began
hosting the Red Cross for monthly blood drives, doubling the
number of days offered.
