Ground-line hitch

There’s not much difference between a ground-

line hitch and a clove hitch – except the ground-line
hitch is more secure. Like the clove hitch, it is easily

dislodged if the standing part is jerked excessively.
It is, however, a better knot for most purposes.

1 Place the line over the mooring point – typically a wire or large line or

possibly the neck of a bag.
