Braided splice
Now for something completely different. The
braided splice is essentially just a schoolgirl’s plait,
with the clever addition of a loop at the end to
secure the loose end. Like its close sister, the
braided loop, it has an inherent elasticity which
allows it to absorb shock, making for a stronger
knot. Best used with small, slippery lines.
1 Put a bight in one line and pass the other line through it.
