This is another ‘new’ knot, published in recent

years by the International Guild of Knot Tyers –
although it has no doubt been in existence a lot

longer. It may seem fussy compared to most of the
simple-but-effective knots elsewhere in this book

but is said to be extremely secure. Use it to tether a

dinghy, or to impress friends.

1 Take a turn around the mooring point – originally a hitching rail on a

ranch, presumably.
