Crown sinnet
You might remember this one from going to
scouts or girl guides. Although now more commonly
used to make bracelets, it too has its origins aboard
ship where it was used for a variety of purposes,
including bell ropes. Based on the crown, its great
advantage is that it’s unlikely to ever unravel.
1 Tie a crown, passing each strand over the standing part of its
neighbour.
