Lapp knot
Although this looks like a temporary knot,
Laplanders apparently use it to tie lanyards onto
their knives and hitch their reindeer to sledges. It
can be slipped with one tug of the drawloop, and the
line can be pulled free without any further effort.
Use it to attach a line that might need to be released
at short notice – and not just reindeer.
1 Put a bight in the end of one of the lines, and pass the end of the other
line under it.
