Butterfly loop
A much more secure alternative to the harness
loop, the butterfly is popular with climbers as a way
of tying a loop in the middle of a line when you don’t
have access to the ends. Use it to create secure
mooring points on a line, for a ladder or for hanging
clothes.
1 Twist the bight of the line to create a pair of loops, the top one larger
than the lower one.
