Magic Tom Fool’s knot
As well as being used to handcuff prisoners, the
Tom Fool was once ‘the sailor’s favourite parlour
trick’, according to knot guru Clifford Ashley.
Practise it a few times and you too will be arrested
by its ‘hypnotic’ rhythm.
1 Hold a length of line in the crook of your thumbs, hands facing each
other, thumbs pointing upwards.
