DAY
126
Soft eye splice
If you’re not planning to put a shackle or a chain
through the end of the line, then a regular ‘soft’ eye
splice will do nicely. This is often used in running
rigging on traditional yachts and for mooring lines
on vessels of all kinds.
1 Seize the line and tease the strands apart, allowing three times the
diameter per tuck. Splice the end to the standing part, following the same
procedure as Day 125.
