Palm and needle whipping
If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well, and
this whipping certainly rewards the extra effort put
into making it. This is one of the most durable
whippings, with the twine actually stitched through
the rope. It’s also suitable for use with braided and
high-modulus ropes, where two or three frapping
turns are usually applied.
1 Using a sailmaker’s needle, pass the working end of the twine between
the strands – or for an extra strong whipping, through one of the strands.
