Ossel hitch

Another knot much-favoured by fishermen, the

ossel hitch was used to suspend driftnets in the sea.
As such, it had to be tied quickly and cope with a

great deal of underwater movement. The ossel hitch
is useful in any situation where a small line is being

attached to a larger line.

1 Pass the working end around the pole – this would be the float line.
