Shear lashing
Simple yet effective, the shear lashing combines
wrapping and frapping turns with a couple of clove
hitches to good effect. It can also be used if the
spars are to be splayed out, for making a crutch or
(with an extra pole) a tripod.
1 Tie the standing end of the line onto one pole with a clove hitch.
