Hang a pulley

You need to hoist something (or someone!) up a

tree. What’s the best knot to use, and how do you
get up there to tie it? This method uses the same

set-up as climb a tree, with a bit extra. One here-
year-old said the results were ‘the best tree swing,

ever’!

1 Take a long length of rope and thread a pulley to the middle of it. Throw

the pulley over a branch so the ends of the rope are hanging down each

side of it.
