DAY
               162

               Transom hitch

A compact but secure knot for holding together

two objects, such as posts or cordage, at right
angles to each other. It can be tied individually (eg

for kite sticks) or as a series of knots in a single
length of rope (eg for wooden railings). Similar to

the constrictor knot, it is, if anything, more secure

and therefore even more difficult to release.

1 Pass the working end diagonally across the two posts, around the

vertical post and then diagonally across both posts again, so that it

                                              crosses the standing part.
