               Water bowline

This development of the bowline is designed to

be used with wet, slippery lines. It also lends itself to
use with modern ropes, which tend to slip when tied

with a regular bowline. The main difference is that
the loop in the standing part is replaced with a clove

hitch, greatly increasing the knot’s security.

1 Form an overhand loop so that the working end lies on top of the

                                                     standing part.
