Lifting hitch
If the timber hitch and the killick hitch don’t
appeal, try this simple but effective lifting hitch. The
extra turns prevent slippage, particularly on
varnished or metal spars, and it can be cast off
quickly. Plus it looks good – always something to
bear in mind.
1 Wrap the working end tightly around the object to be lifted – six to
eight turns should do the trick.
