               West Country whipping




               There’s  nothing  terribly  clever  about  this


               whipping  and  it  can  be  tied  using  the  most  basic
               tools  (ie  a  knife),  but  it’s  also  remarkably  hard-


               wearing.  Even  if  the  finishing  knot  does  eventually
               come  undone,  the  rest  of  the  knots  will  hold  it  all

               together for a good while longer. Use it for slippery

               lines if you don’t have or don’t want to use a needle.










































                1  Fold a length of twine in half. Centre it, and tie an overhand knot around
