Slipped clove hitch

The clove hitch is really most useful as a quick,

temporary attachment. Tying it with a loop means it
can be untied even more easily – useful if you’re

trying to make a quick getaway. You can also tie the
whole knot with a loop or doubled line, but this

cannot be slipped in the same manner.

1 Form a clove hitch in the usual manner, but when it comes to the final

tuck, put a bight into the end and pull that through instead.
