Welcome to Boston and our 2023 Mid-Year Meeting!

On the heels of a record-setting 2022 fall Summit, it is wonderful to gather for what promises
to be another great Mid-Year conference. We are meeting in both exciting and uncertain times.
Program growth and the attention around the MGA space continues to grow unabated. The
specialty program space exceeds $60 Billion in GWP with no ceiling in sight. In the background
of this picture is an uncertain economy dogged by inflation, economic insecurity, and a tense
international environment. It is in this uncertain but exciting environment that we operate today.
To help our members navigate these times, the Mid-Year Meeting provides a wealth of business
and learning opportunities. In the next few days, you will visit with your industry colleagues to
explore business possibilities, meet new people, and renew old ties. There is no better place
to connect than a Target Markets conference.

In addition, our conference this year provides an array of excellent speakers and learning
sessions. Karen Clark, the go-to authority on Cat modeling, will lead off as our industry speaker on
Monday. Amid a generational hard property market, Karen’s comments will be incredibly valuable.
Speaking on the state of our nation’s civil discourse, democracy, and freedom, we are delighted
to welcome former House Representative Liz Cheney. Representative Cheney will provide her
unique perspective on where things stand and where they are headed as we enter another
election cycle. We look forward to the opportunity to hear her thoughts.

As we do every two years, we are eager to kick off TMPAA’s 2023 State of Program Business
Study. This will be our 9th report which surveys program managers and carriers, presenting
an unmatched picture of our specialty industry. Information about participating in the study
will be available at the meeting, and we look forward to sharing the results this October at the
23rd Annual Summit in Scottsdale.
All of this, as well as timely workshops on Outsourcing, Actuarial Analysis and a Lloyd’s Market
Update await you this week. TMPAA’s membership and meeting attendance numbers continue
