Hymns for our Contemporary Church

Jubilate is a hymn-writing organisation based in the UK. For
over fifty years they have been helping churches with
providing new hymns and tunes often through their
publications. Now this is done mainly online through their
website. Earlier this year I was approached by their editor to
write a tune for one of their new selection of hymns called
“Hymns for our Contemporary Church”. These hymns
address issues that face our world today such as climate
change and mental health and how, as Christians, we should
respond. I was invited to write a tune to a hymn text by Ally
Barrett. This looks at the wonderful world God has created.
As God’s stewards, we have a responsibility to care for it.
Thankfully the tune was accepted and you can hear it below
together with Ally’s challenging words. Jubilate is still in the
process of publishing the remainder of the hymns. It
promises to be a very good resource for our churches today.
