About Me
Akshita Shah is a student at Houston Community College and is currently pursuing her
Associates degree in Applied Science, Interior Design. She has successfully completed
most of her courses for the Interior Design Degree. Some of her favorite courses during
the course include Residential, Commercial and Space Planning. Akshita is skilled at using
Auto-CAD, Sketchup, IRender, In-Design, Photoshop and many other software relevant
to the Interior Design field. She has managed small scale residential projects including
room redesign, remodeling and upholstery projects. Akshita wanted to upgrade her skills
and move into main stream interior design because of which she pursued her current
degree.
PROJECTS : As part of her degree, Akshita undertook multiple projects to develop her
Interior Design skills. Some of these projects include designing a new office for Amazon.
It was designed to be energetic and vibrant to attract bright and young talent. Akshita
also worked on a project to help a well established and successful food truck owner –
‘Mel’s Seafood’ to upgrade to a sophisticated and upscale restaurant. Akshita has also
designed residential projects while keeping ADA requirements in mind. One of her recent
accomplishments was to design a dress for the IIDA 2018 MET GALA fashion show. She
also walked the ramp to show her design at the show.
CAREER HISTORY : Akshita had a successful stint as a business woman with over 8
years of work experience in the corporate world. She has worked in multiple roles
including a Sales Manager, Business Analyst and Design Architect. Akshita has worked
in the Software and Automotive vertical. She took a break 4 years back to raise her child.
Reconsidering her career, Akshita decided to start her second professional stint in the
field of her passion – Interior Designing.
