Site visit report from Salish Kootenai College (2)
JSF Scholarship Endowment Program Report
The primary purpose of the site visit was to introduce SKC to the new JSF endowment reporting process that is being implemented this year.
Rick provided an overview of the information requested on the endowment report form. See a copy of the report form attached. One of the major emphases of the report is to continue to collect data on college graduates and the importance of establishing a return on investment of the Johnson Scholarship Foundation funding.
We had the opportunity to visit with three students, all of whom were former or current JSF scholarship recipients.
One of the students was interested in opening a shoe store in their community. He said that people have to drive approximately 70 miles to get a pair of shoes. He felt that this would be an excellent business niche for him to be involved in. Another student spoke about being interested in an accounting degree and being able to provide tax services to the reservation community. The final student was interested in business law and was currently working with the drug court. All of the students were very appreciative of being recipients of the Johnson
Scholarship Foundation award.
