Program Notes
• Distributions as of August 15: $2,250,000
• State University System of Florida
Offer letters have gone to the 12 universities to secure matching funds for scholarships for next year. Signed agreement letters are due back here in December. Matching funds must be secured by May 1, 2023 and reported by May 15th.
• UPS children’s scholarships
The annual funding has gone to Scholarship America.
INDIGENOUS PEOPLES PROGRAMS
• Distributions as of August 15: $632,908
• Entrepreneurship Scholarships
Signed agreements have been received from the schools. The fall portion of the grants was funded.
• Native Forward Scholars Fund
The attached report documents the scholarships being awarded through this organization and the endowment JSF is helping to create.
• Oglala Lakota College endowment
The endowment that the Foundation helped create continues to grow and assist business/ entrepreneurship students at OLC. (See reports attached.)
• President Shortbull’s retirement
Rick was able to participate in the celebrations surrounding Tom Shortbull’s retirement as the long time President of Oglala Lakota College. (See his memo attached.)
DISCRETIONARY PROGRAMS

• Achieve Palm Beach County
Sharon received the following announcement from Katherine Moyses at Palm Beach State College:
Achieve Palm Beach County is excited to announce our first official Operations Team meeting of 2022! As a previous member of this team, we hope that you will be able to join us to continue working towards helping students achieve success in high school and beyond. Location details and the agenda are being finalized now; we’ll send out that information as soon as it is ready.
We look forward to continuing this incredible work with you!
The meeting is scheduled for August 24th. Although JSF has no current grants with Achieve, we certainly have a vested interest in what is going on with this once really promising organization. We hope to have more information for you in September.
