Goal 3: Generate buy in to sustain Access Academy across the unit.
The SAC Director collaborates with the Dean, Associate Dean, Budget Director, and COEHS Faculty to
evaluate our sustainability, program effectiveness, and faculty resources. All course facilitators are
grad students from COEHS, so selecting good candidates to facilitate the program requires a high level
of collaboration with faculty who teach graduate-level students. Faculty from several colleges within
the University have provided meaningful input to shape the direction of our course offerings and
content. The SAC Director makes a concerted effort to advise faculty, academic advisors, and other
retention specialists on campus about the benefits of the Access Academy program for our students
with disabilities. I believe that we have tremendous support for this program from our Academic
Provost, Dean, and Faculty.
Expenses
In fall 2023, we increased student awards from $100 to $200 for completing each of the three courses.
The course facilitator is a graduate student in the College of Education and Human Services. The Facilitator is
paid $20.00 per hour (approximately 15 hours weekly) and receives an annual academic scholarship of $7346.
Dr. Dubberly oversees all administrative duties as part of his position as the SAC Director: Hiring; staff
supervision; scheduling/enrollment; data collection and reporting; budget oversight; processing student awards
for completing ACCESS courses.
